Bangkok: The Transition
I first began documenting Bangkok in 2007, captivated by a city that seemed to exist in multiple eras at once. "Transition" is an ongoing, long-term study of the spaces between the skyscrapers. It is a look at the historic heart of the city—the fading railway platforms of Hualamphong, the narrow alleys of the riverside, and the people who maintain their "quiet dignity" amidst the rush of modernization.
My lens seeks the unhurried moments: a morning coffee in a 50-year-old shophouse, the rhythmic labor of the river commuters, and the textures of a neighborhood before the glass towers arrive. Drawing on twenty years of global storytelling, these photographs serve as a visual archive of a city’s memory, captured with an observational eye for the human spirit that remains constant even as the landscape shifts.
