Kolkata 2020: The Soul of the Streets

Kolkata is a city defined by its density, its history, and its undeniable energy. In 2020, I walked its streets to document the "real life" of the City of Joy just as the world began to change. This black and white series is an observational journey through the heart of West Bengal—from the iconic yellow taxis and colonial architecture to the quiet, everyday encounters in the bustling markets.

By removing color, I aim to focus on the textures of the city and the "quiet dignity" of its residents. These images capture the resilience of a metropolis that has seen centuries of change, now navigating a new era of global uncertainty. My lens seeks the moments of warmth and vitality that persist in the shadows of the Howrah Bridge and the narrow lanes of North Kolkata, honoring a spirit that remains vibrant even in silence.
